File Attachments
Premium users can attach files directly to notes — PDFs, images, audio recordings, and more. Attachments are stored securely and accessible from any device.
Supported File Types
| Type | Formats | | -------- | -------------------------------- | | PDF | .pdf | | Image| .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .webp | | Audio| .mp3, .m4a, .wav, .ogg, .webm |
Maximum file size: 25 MB per attachment.
Adding an Attachment
- Open a note
- Click the paperclip icon (📎) in the note toolbar
- Select a file from your device
- Wait for the upload to complete
Files are uploaded securely and linked to that specific note. A note can have multiple attachments.
AI Extraction (PDFs)
When you attach a PDF, WhichNotes automatically extracts its text content and adds it to the note's AI analysis. This means:
- The PDF's content is included when finding connections to other notes
- Topics and summaries reflect the attachment content
- Full-text search covers your attachments
Audio files are transcribed automatically if transcription is available.
Viewing Attachments
Attachments appear in the Attachments section at the bottom of a note. Click any attachment to preview it inline or open it in a new tab.
If a preview fails to load, click Retry to re-fetch it.
Removing an Attachment
Hover over the attachment thumbnail and click the × button. Deletion is permanent.

PDF content not reflected in AI analysis
- Extraction runs after upload — wait a few seconds, then refresh
